About Dr. Mel Asplund

I deliver skilled, compassionate, and tailored physical therapy care right to your door.

I want you to have access: Your access to physical therapy should not be hindered by your ability to get to a clinic.  I will show up at your door and cheer you through your recovery process.  Each person deserves a plan of care tailored to their individual needs, goals, and challenges.

I want you to feel heard: I will listen to you. Your story is an essential component of the Physical Therapy Evaluation process. Together we will develop a plan for you to reach your goals.

I want you to feel supported: My experience and education are here to provide you with the tools you need during recovery and beyond. I gladly work with medical teams and support systems to ensure clients receive optimal care at all times.

I want you to be successful: Everyone travels through recovery on a different path.  Setting individual and achievable goals, and monitoring progress, is part of determining what success looks like.

Let’s find a way for you to function, live, and thrive!

Education:

Doctor of Physical Therapy - The George Washington University

B.S. Cellular, Molecular, and Developmental Biology - University of Washington

My Personal Story

I grew up in Hawaii, but fell in love with the Cascades and Puget Sound. I graduated from UW Seattle (GO HUSKIES!), and was commissioned into the US Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer (GO NAVY!). My deployments include SE Asia, Central America, and the Middle East. I transitioned to the Reserves and became a Doctor of Physical Therapy through The George Washington University, settling down in Washington State with my family. I love bicycling (road), weightlifting, kettlebells, and eating.

My ideal day would start with eating chocolate for breakfast followed by cycling to/from work, lifting weights and swinging ‘bells during lunch break, then playing with my kiddos until we fell asleep.

My favorite foods, in no particular order: chocolate, ice cream, donuts, cake, cookies, pie, malts. (These are my treats - I’d love to talk to you about Functional Nutrition!)

My COVID confession: I started playing Pokémon Go, and Tsum Tsum with my Mom
